250,000 Twitter accounts no longer secure

With the increasing popularity of social media services, it’s not surprising that hackers are constantly testing the security a site and its users employ. From time-to-time the hackers are successful. For the most part, what the hackers do is either publish user passwords or bring the system down. The first big security breach of the year has just been reported.

It only took one month for the first major security breach of a social network, and this time it happened to Twitter. On the first of February, Twitter announced on their blog that slightly over 250,000 accounts had been compromised.

Three aspects of BCP resiliency

February was an interesting month in terms of disasters. First there was the incident at the Super Bowl where half the stadium's lights abruptly went out leaving the game suspended and millions of viewers wondering what were going on. Then there was another Super Storm that hit the Eastern US, not to mention all the dramas going on around the world. These events continuously highlight the need for all businesses to have a Business Continuity Plan.

While a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) can be complicated, and comprised of many different objectives, the main reason companies include this in their business strategy is to build up resilience. Disasters of many kinds can result in either lost data, sales or even business. While a BCP won't prevent large-scale disasters, it will help your business recover quicker.

Ensure respect while using your phone

You're walking down the street on the way to a restaurant for lunch. Coming towards you is the typical office worker, also out for a bite to eat. As you get closer, you see they are talking on their cell phone about the night they had last night. You can hear every word, with many details you'd rather not know. While the mobile has opened up our world, many have chosen to forsake common etiquette.

Here are six cell phone etiquette tips you should practice to ensure you show respect to your peers, and people around you while on your phone.

1.

·         Watch what you snap - Almost every phone has a camera these days, and we can't help but take pictures of nearly everything. While it is convenient to take pictures with your phone, there are times when it's not a good idea, such as in a meeting, for example. In general, if you are supposed to be paying attention to something, don't take pictures.

NetManage

Stop waiting for your technology to break

When something goes wrong with your IT, everything grinds to a halt. With a standard break/fix service contract, you have to wait for something to break before your provider can fix it. That equation seems to make sense – even though it could easily result in hours of downtime. But what if you could keep your IT from breaking in the first place?

With NetManage services from INFO-TEK, you can expect:

·         Peace of mind – your systems are monitored 24/7

·         Less downtime – we identify and fix issues before they cause problems

·         Fewer disruptions –we provide most services remotely or overnight

·         Predictable budgeting – all-inclusive, all-you-can-use, flat-rate IT services that include hardware and software.

Don’t forget to spay or neuter your pets!
